A Little Creative Venture

Things have been a bit quiet around here lately. Reubs has been busy with work and I’ve been busy working on a special little project, which I am really excited to share with you today! You might remember me saying that I was waiting on some craft supplies? Yes well, they finally arrived and I’ve been feverishly putting them to use ever since. This project has been brewing at the back of my mind for such a long time… I’ll share that story with you soon, but in the meantime, I thought I’d give you a peek at what I’ve been working on.

Pink Key Glitter Globe Necklace

Typrewriter Pendants

Creative Mess

Sky Charm Necklace

Paris Glitter Globe

Strawberry Charm Necklace

Blue Bow Glitter Globe

I’ve been making a little collection of trinkets and treasures featuring antique bronze charms, delicate globes full of German glass glitter and glass pendants, handmade with tiny notes typed on my vintage typewriter. I plan to pop my jewellery into an Etsy store in the next couple of weeks and I am so excited about it! It feels really good to be doing something creative and productive. Making things makes me so happy.

Wishing you all a most wonderful weekend! I’ll be spending most of it perched in front of that mess on the dining table, with pliers and glue in hand…

Lovely jewelry! The Eiffel Tower made me think of my days in French class in secondary school. :> I can’t imagine that there won’t be a rush to your Etsy store to snap these up.

An aside: I noticed the previous post from Reuben about being a man who knits. We have a wonderful fellow who just joined our Saturday morning knit and crochet group at a nearby library. He hasn’t been knitting very long but he is quite a master. His hats, especially the fish shaped hats are spectacular!

      Katie April 13, 2013 at 6:46 pm #

I bought my typewriter at an antique shop in Sydney. It was a special treat to myself when I graduated uni! 🙂

Katie they are so sweet. What a fun creative project. Love, love vintage typewriters. Would you believe my mum found one in a council garbage pick up this week? She was so excited as she is an old-school typist from way back. It even had ribbon and worked a treat.
    Happy weekending to you both.

Thank you! And what a great find. I have a serious thing for vintage typewriters so I’m a bit jealous! x

    • sophie April 14, 2013 at 3:16 pm #

Damn it! M dream item at the moment is totally a vintage type writer, but all the ones I’ve tried are over-priced have sticky keys or just used for decoration. All well, I’ll be looking for council garbage pick-up’s now. Congratulations to your mum though, I mean, of all the cool thing to find in the garbage!

You definitely have a talent. They are really special!

  17. Ali April 14, 2013 at 10:57 am #

Dear Katie, WOW those creations are beyond beautiful, I can see your creative talent is bursting out ! well worth the wait for your supplies 🙂 Perhaps you and Reuben will make a fortune, maybe you could build a conservatory on to your house as a permanent workroom overlooking your garden ? It is always great to dream even if it is on someone else’s behalf !!!!!

    • Katie
      Katie April 14, 2013 at 12:19 pm #

Working from home together in a conservatory overlooking the garden is pretty much our dream Ali! Though we don’t have the room for such a luxury at this house, so it’ll have to wait until we move to an acreage. Then we can watch over our veggie patch and alpacas grazing, while we craft, sip tea and listen to records 😉 Ha! A girl can dream…

      • Mike (CraftyDad) April 15, 2013 at 11:50 pm #

And dreams are what life is made of. : – ) Hang in there, kiddo. Your dreams will come true.

I have one, which has been a little neglected, but I’ve been listing some new things in it lately. It’s so wonderful to think that people over the world can see and love what we create 🙂

I just found your blog via Top 100 and I’m in love!
I really want the Eiffel Tower Dome Pendant and I also want one with a little statue of liberty or Empire State Building for my upcoming trip to NYC in June… THEY ARE DIVINE!!!

  23. Alana April 15, 2013 at 5:00 pm #

Love Katie!! I love the photo with all your craft stuff spread over the table. I was just doing the same thing this weekend. It’s so much fun making a mess. x

  24. Sara April 15, 2013 at 8:06 pm #

the little globes with glitter are extra cute 🙂

  25. Tillie April 16, 2013 at 10:29 pm #

Wow-I can’t believe I haven’t come across your blog til now. It is just gorgeous, as are your trinkets. I found out about you on Rhonda’s blog, Down to Earth. My friend and I have started a blog recording our attempts at leading a more sustainable life with backyard veggies and chooks in Melbourne. It has been a lot of fun and honestly changing the focus of where food comes from also changes the way I look at life and how we live. Really satisfying.
