Wearing my first handmade dress and a brooch by The Story Book Rabbit.
Coffee from Old Green Bean. Our favourite coffee in the universe!
Veggie nachos and corn fritters, also from Old Green Bean.
This beautiful book.
The latest issue of Frankie (and preordering my Frankie diary for next year!)
Stacks of vintage linens.
Demolishing the dessert taster plate at The Woodhouse with new friends.
Being able to stay in, rugged up on the couch, while the winter rain pounds on the roof.
Watching 30 Rock.
The smell of clean laundry.
What’s making you smile right now? I would love if you’d share your happy list!

PS Thanks so much for your kind words and suggestions on my last post. It’s somewhat comforting to know I’m not the only one feeling a little bit blah and fed up with winter (or summer!) Let’s hope the change of season brings fresh inspiration and motivation for us all!

Everytime I go to Old Green Bean I mean to order those nachos and then get tempted by something else. Tomorrow when I go, Im going to stick to my guns because they always look so yummy!! Also I had a lemon curd tart from there with my lunch today…sooo freaking good…it’s my newest favorite thing
The nachos are SO GOOD! Seriously, you must try them! I love a good lemon curd tart too. Mmmm…..
I want ro see more of that dress you made, it looks sooo cute! Love me some vintage linens, it is all i have and it makes me so happy to snuggle with them every night
Xo,cb
Thank you! I blogged about the dress here
Nachos is also making me smile today. I made home made taco seasoining for the first time, and I used it in nachos, and it was delicious!
other things:
autum is on its way
purple yarn
a cinnamon scones recipe that will be tested this weekend
that making cinnamon scones is my only plan this weekend
I saw a lovely recipe for taco seasoning on Pinterest just yeterday that I am dying to try out too! Oh and cinnamon scones sound incredible!
Is that creme brulee (my favorite!) ?? That plate of dessert looks amazing!
I know how you feel about misplacing motivation. Sometimes I am just not motivated to do anything I really enjoy, and the next minute I am doing it with so much passion. A bit strange, but I do attribute it to my mood, and *weather can definitely can affect it!
*A hot day means being lazy outdoors and leaving the computer (blogging/social networking) behind for a bit.
Have a great weekend!
Yep, creme brulle! Also cheesecake, panna cotta and a brownie
Lovely things happening at your place as usual! The Old Green Bean sounds very cool. Oh…and that dessert platter, yum. What a great thing to share with new friends.
Making me smile…plans for Fathers Day sourdough pancakes and a little farm work later in the day with my kids. Happy weekend to you Katie! x
We are lucky to have some really great cafes and restaurants in Bendigo. But sourdough pancakes?! They sound incredible! x
Those desserts look amazing, yum!
THEY WERE!
I’m sure there are 10 things making me happy, but I can never think of them all at once
all the blossom trees in my street
the camelias in my front neighbors garden, they have been flowering their stems off for weeks and I get to see them every day
sunshine
and, this is a new one for me, feeling positive about the gym and looking forward to going!
Aren’t the spring blossoms beautiful?! I only wish the temperature matched them a little better – it’s be so cold here the last few days!
My ten things:
My hubby coming home from hospital after 4 night in after getting a seriously bad viral infection.
Eating as much as I can to stop feeling squeamish – morning sickness does not make my 10 things list!
My chickens laying again and greeting me with a happy noise when they spy me through the kitchen window.
My two lil boys who did an amazing job in their school concert.
Knowing my shop will be moving soon – lots of fun designing our new space.
Mum and dad finally moving furniture into their holiday house up here.
Blossoms, as far as the eye can see in Castlemiane.
Grape hyacinths and daffodils raising their sleepy heads towards the sunshine.
Pretty spring frocks that will stretch over my impending belly.
Our local market, pork buns and lovely plants to make my heart sing.

They are all good things Lauren! I am so sorry to here your husband has been sick, but so glad to hear he’s on the one mend. And I had no idea you were expecting a little one!!! Excitenment plus! xo
What a great list of good things! I love the smell of fresh linens as well, especially fresh sheets!
http://shannonhearts.blogspot.com
That fabric, third from the top with the blue & white daisies on the purple background? Was also available in browns, and in pinks & white on purple (the one I have). Kimpton used it for their doona covers, for what I believe were the first ever doonas in Australia (I still have that too, real feathers). Our friends had brown ones, we had the purple. I used some of the fabric in the block I made for my brother’s wedding quilt (along with fabric from the curtains we had in our bedroom as kids, Mum kept both). Mid to late ’70s. Where on earth did you find it?!
It’s actually a flat sheet with a blue background, but we have the same print with a purple background in doona cover form as well. Both came from op-shops! They are two of my very favourites out of my vintage linen collection. It’s so nice to learn a little about their history – thanks for sharing!
i do love the storybook rabbit brooch with your new dress! it looks so lovely!
Man I love Frankie! So expensive to get a subscription in the UK though. Have you checked out Mollie Makes? They also have a new sister mag all about leading a simple life and appreciating the simple things. Funnily enough it’s called The Simple Things – http://www.thesimplethings.com/
so many things to be thankful for! these posts always inspire me to remember how much i have to be thankful for in my own life! thank you for that!
