… We have been been drinking lattes with cute pictures drawn by Reuben on top.
We have been listening to lots of Elton John.
Reuben has been working on his Whale Shark iPhone cozy, which is very almost finished!
Katie has been attempting (for the millionth time) to sew a simple little frock.
We have been to a barbeque and been reminded of the magic that is fairy bread.
We have spent a day off going for a nice long drive and popping into op-shops along the way.
We have been staying up far too late.
Katie has fallen ridiculously in love with a teddy bears picnic birthday cake in a cake decorating book. (It even had her name on it!)
Reuben has been reading comic books.
We’ve both been a little bit tired and lazy and unmotivated. (We’ll blame the winter blues, shall we?)
What have you been up to lately?

I love the title of that book – ten year old me would have well worn that book! (So would current me probably). I can definitely relate to those Winter blues – sounds like you guys are doing lots of lovely things to combat that though!
It was SUCH a cute book! Sadly, a little too pricey though. Hope you manage to keep the winter blues at bay. I prescribe hot chocolate and cuddles with furry animals
Where is that cafe with the turquoise seat?? I was thinking T’Hooft but it kinda looks like a booth seat…i love turquoise!
That was at Cured in Castlemaine, which I can highly recommend. I love turquoise too! x
I will be making me some fairy bread for breakfast tomorrow!!
That sounds like the perfect plan to me Natalie! Fairy bread is the best
I’m having the SUMMER blues.
It really cooled down today, it’s only 88 degrees! That’s some sort of relief from the 100+ temps that we have been having.
Still, I’m sitting in front of the air-conditioner as I type this.
I’m thinking about cleaning the house, I’ve procrasinated as long as I can.
Oh, I completely understand Cindi. I don’t much like the heat so in Summer I really struggle to drag myself away from the air conditioner and get stuff done. I hope the cooler weather sticks around for you! x
Lashings of butter covered in sweet little colourful crunchy balls? Fairy bread is the best!
Did you end up buying that book? It looks like it might’ve been a good one?
Agreed about the fairy bread! Especially when the bread is really fresh and soft. There is nothing better! Sadly I didn’t buy the book because it was in a bit pricey… And though cute, I don’t think the projects were anything I would use. It was all really simple kids stuff. Would make a fabulous gift for a little girl though!
Hello Katie and Reuben,
I’m looking forward to seeing the iphone cozy – maybe it can inspire other fishy knitting – I’m thinking my little phone could wear a cute clownfish cosie just like Finding Nemo.
Katie, I can relate to the idea of making a dress vs the actual sewing – I have made a dress once in my life and realised that I am more of a mender than a maker.
Loving your Daisy photos – she’s so grown up now!
As for me, I’m making a coiled fabric sculpture with a friend. We hope to enter it in a local exhibition but we’re having a great time making it, whether it’s accepted into the show or not.
A clownfish cover – that would be SO cute! I think my issue with sewing dresses is that I HATE patterns and all my attempts to follow patterns have been pretty disasterous. This time I’m kind of improvising and just using a very, very basic pattern as a base and it’s worked out much better! I will write a blog post about it if the finished dress is wearable
Fairy bread ….I’ll be making some of that this Sunday for my daughter’s birthday. What would be a kids birthday without fairy bread? And I’m loving Reuben’s latte pics.
And that Teddy Bear’s picnic birthday cake looks fabulous. But I fear it is out of my reach. A birthday cake this year might be something more humble in design than that one.
It just wouldn’t be a kids party without fairy bread! The thing about that cake is, although it looks really cute, it probably wouldn’t be all that nice to eat because all of the decorations are made out of fondant, which I don’t find yummy at all. Cakes like that are very pretty to look at but for eating, I think simpler is better
Ooooh I love that turquoise seat too….and chilling out with the paper and a latte – perfection:)
Agreed Heidi! Paper + Coffee + Nice Companion = Bliss
You’re going to have to teach us how to draw on our lattes! So cute!
And that fairy bread looks amazing! I think I’ll have to surprise my niece with this when I get the chance
Hundreds of things a girl can make??!! I need that book!
what is that sprinkle toast?!?! it looks amazing! and your pup is a total cutie!
<3 katherineof corgis and cocktails
That cake! Amazing! Fairy bread looks quite tempting too, what a cute idea!
I love the photos, the effects are amazing and your puppy is the cutest thing ever!
Ah, that cake is so cute! And I love all the latte pictures.
We just got a coffee machine (coincidentally the day it arrived our stove-top pot broke, good timing!) and I’m using a lot of willpower to not make three million coffees a day :9
That little cat in the foam of your coffee makes that the cutest cup of coffee I have ever seen!
Loulou
OK, thanks so much for introducing me to fairy bread! I love sprinkles on anything, and I have to try this!
Out of interest, what comic books does Reuben read?
