Oh yes, we’re in the thick of wintery business now. There are lots of grey skies, frosty mornings and thick socks happening around these parts at the moment.
Over the weekend we had some nice friends visit from Queensland. We thought it would be lovely to take them to the farmers market and the craft market in Castlemaine on Sunday, but of course it was absolutely freezing and rather wet! Unsurprisingly the markets were fairly quiet and we were all a bit chilly so we didn’t stay very long, but while we were there we did manage to spot a lovely yarn-bombed pompom tree, and I bought a cute little bunny brooch. So as far as I’m concerned the trip was totally worthwhile!
This week Reubs and I are taking a few days off work for some family time. My aunty and uncle from Sydney and cousins from Melbourne are renting a holiday house in the country, not far from here, so we are going to hang out with them. We’ll be spending a bit of time at my mum’s house too. I foresee many cups of tea, much laughter and perhaps a spot of knitting happening in the coming days… Bliss.
I hope you are all having a happy day! What’s happening in your world this week?

those rabbits!!! too cute!
Aren’t they?! It’s actually a Beatrix Potter illustration – she’s my absolute favourite!
That pom-pom tree is so cute! Sounds like you’ll both have a wonderful break
I’m currently counting down the days until I’m on annual leave and doing a big clean-up so I can properly enjoy my time off and planning fun things to do.
Yes Renee! Whenever we have time off the first thing I do is give our home a big clean – I just can’t relax when things are untidy! We did that yesterday so when we get back on the weekend it will be lovely and clean waiting for us
Oooh! The pom-pom trees! So adorable! Cheeky breaks like that are the best – hope it’s restful! x
I am brainstorming a pom-pom tree related idea based on these photos…thanks for the inspiration. PS enjoy your time off…sounds deliciously relaxing
Oh I hope you share whatever pompoming you get up to! We would love to see! x
That bunny brooch is ridiculously cute! Great find! x
I think the pom pom tree is the cutest thing I’ve seen yet..!
Enjoy your family time! xx
Isn’t it amazing?! I would very much like a pompom tree in my garden… x
I wish I was having your weather right now!!!!!!!!!!!
Ohh, your pictures are delightful and have me wishing for autumn, and for trees filled with pom poms. We are caught up in the heat wave that has encompassed much of the U.S. so a little chilly air sounds about perfect right now.
Yes, I am really enjoying it! People find it strange but I don’t much like being hot. Hope you get some relief from the heat soon! x
I still find it kind of odd hearing Australian bloggers talking about Winter when it’s summer here in the UK (Not that you’d know it based on the rain outside).
I love this idea of yarn bombing though – it’s so cool!

Yes, it IS funny reading about the weather on the other side of the Earth! I find that too. Blogging makes the world a much smaller place
I agree with Sarah, I forget that you are having Winter!
Today it is already hit 100 degrees and tomorrow it’s supposed to be over that…on the 4th of July.
I won’t be joining everyone in the heat to see fireworks, instead I will be huddled with my furry gang in the air-conditioning.
That pom pom bombed tree looks so amazing! Makes me want to put pom poms all over my bedroom
I find it so humorous that over here in southern USA we are in completely sweltering and humid territory while it is freezing over in Australia. It is pretty wonderful to think that the environment can be so different around the world. Have fun on your few days off with family!
You SHOULD decorate your room in pompoms! I would love to see that!
Lovely wintery images katie!
Thank you! <3
It’s getting so very cold isn’t it?! Enjoy your family time out.
Those pom poms!!!!
Yarn bomb…I love it! It’s freezing here too
My pre-school is on holidays so as a suprprise for the beautiful children I’ve been making soft owls as take-home friends that they can adventure with and then write their stories in the owl journal. felting old jumpers to make owls is a joyous passtime on cold days! thanks for sharing xxxx
Becc, that sounds SO incredibly cute! What a wonderful idea! And what lucky kidlets! You are an absolute gem x
You really do live in the most charming and perfect small town. These photos make me want to move there! My husband and I long for the more rural/small town life!
It is crazy to read about your winter weather as we are in the middle of a huge heat wave here in our little part of Canada. The pom pom tree made my day… so so sweet! So going to do that when our skies turn cold & grey. Thanks for sharing.

I love the pom pom tree!
It has been very wintery here lately, we had ice on the car windscreen yesterday. But the sun is out so I’m making the most of it and trying to go for more walks
