Lately…

… We have been recharging our batteries, getting ready for a bright new year.

We have been spending our time unplugged and not worrying so much about taking our camera everywhere.

We have been falling in love with a certain puppy and watching as she begins to fall in love with us back.

We have been avoiding the heatwave here in Victoria by having Harry Potter DVD marathons.

We have been thankful for family and friends and the lovely people who read our blog.

We have been happy because Katie’s mama kindly offered to turn the remaining pastel granny squares (from months ago) into a tiny blanket, so they are no longer sitting sadly in the bottom of a basket.

We have been eating lots of chips and dip and drinking lots of ginger beer.

We have been quietly pondering our goals and plans for 2012.

We have been reading The Hunger Games series (Katie) and knitting dogs from this cute book (Reuben).

We have been relaxed.

What have you been up to lately? Whatever you’ve been doing, we hope you’ve had a truly wonderful holiday season!

Here at the Humble House we are so excited to be beginning a brand new year. 2011 was a year of big transitions for our little family and we feel that there are many more exciting changes for us on the horizon. We are so grateful for each and every person who took the time to stop by our blog in 2011. You guys have been so kind, supportive and generous to us. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. We can’t wait to share a whole new year of adventures with you.

Wishing you all a stellar 2012!

Excellent! I loved the Hunger Games… totally addictive if a tad melodramatic.

How wonderful- just a little bit of me occasionally longs for life pre-kids (maybe just for a day) so that we can have peaceful snuggley time together just like that. Your puppy is pretty special too x

    awwww pupppeeeeee!

Sounds lovely! I’ve been told by many people at my work (the cinema) to read the hunger games series, so I shall soon. I have only really been working but am going to Melbourne on Friday for the day. This hear is also very gross!

Heatwave! Well, it’s unseasonably warm here, but that’s far from a heatwave…

Your puppy is very special. How are the cats taking to her now? Our dog and cat are sadly unreconcilable, but they met as adults. I think that with a puppy you have a chance.

    Happy New Year!

That sounds rather blissful! The heatwave has just hit us in Canberra and I’m going to be doing some of these things to… Starting with the Huger Games…

    Happy New Year!

I’ve just finished reading the Hunger Games trilogy myself (I actually have the same editions you have!). They’re so well written and addicting that I just couldn’t stop reading! I finished the series in a little less than three days. It’s been a long time since I’ve read books that had that effect on me. Oh and I’m totally in love with Peeta XD

Happy New Year to you both and your little fur babies :)

    Aren’t puppies the best?!?

I definitely wouldn’t want a heat wave right now, but I could be happy with a little warmer weather here (below freezing right now). If I didn’t have a beagle blanket thief, I could probably use my beautiful quilts my grandmother made me to stay warm.

Yes, they ARE the best! We’ll send some warmth your way if you send some coolness to us! ;)

Ooh I’ve never read that series – it looks great! How are the cats adapting now to the wee pup? Hopefully they are friends!

Sadly in the UK we don’t have a heatwave – we have gale force winds and lots of rain! I did however go to the beach yesterday – it was cold but the sunlight was absolutely gorgeous.

Little by little they are starting to accept one another. They are far from friends but they are less terrified of each other now! Oh, and I love going for a walk on the beach on a cold day! It’s always so beautiful :)

Lovely! That rock photo is beautiful! Today I very slowly worked on crocheting a pair of slippers for my Nana while I half watched the cricket! It was super relaxing!

I just came back to work today and I am truly happy to be back. My friends here are fabulous. I wish we were having a heat wave! It’s 20 degrees here in New York!

I love the granny square blanket! There’s just something so lovely about granny squares! All the best in 2012!

  15. Melissa January 4, 2012 at 7:32 am #

I love your dear little world too. :) Miss Daisy is surely going to thrive on your love and will be one of your closest, most loyal friends. I love the photos – she’s so sweet.
I haven’t read The Hunger Games yet, but it’s on my (very long) to-read list. I’ve just started the first book of the Game of Thrones series….and it’s going to keep me busy for some time cos it’s sizable.
To mark the first day of the year, I ordered 9 balls of superfine merino yarn on a clearance special….yay!!

  16. Suzie January 4, 2012 at 9:16 am #

Love the last photo! So cute

  17. JessB January 4, 2012 at 9:19 am #

Oh, I loved The Hunger Games! The first one was the best, but it was such a fascinating story. if you liked that, you should also try The Knife of Never Letting Go, by Patrick Ness. It’s also a trilogy, so there’s plenty to keep you going over the holidays.

Just love your blog! And your pup is adorable – I think she will soon be very much in love with you two guys. I have started a little blog – something I have meant to do for a rather long time! Happy 2012 to you all x

i’ve staying up late reading books and sleeping in until the afternoon. it’s beautiful, really.

  21. Lyndall January 4, 2012 at 3:41 pm #

Happy new year! It sounds like you spent the holidays doing lots of lovely things.

We avoided the heatwave with a Lord of the Rings marathon, hehe. Movie marathons by the airconditioner be a common thing to do during the hot weather!

  22. Maria January 4, 2012 at 8:32 pm #

I am so jealous you’re reading the Hunger Games. I’ve been hankering to read the series for ages. And Daisy looks adorable!

Happy New Year to you and your little home!
