Pancakes with Ricotta, Banana and Honey

This morning we made pancakes and ate them in the gorgeous sunshine on our balcony. Though the usual pancake toppings like maple syrup or lemon and sugar are nice enough, sometimes we feel like something a little bit different. When we are feeling fancy we have our pancakes with ricotta, banana and honey. We first tried this combination at a cute crêpe place in Melbourne and have been hooked ever since!

Our other favourite thing is banana and honey with natural yoghurt. It makes the perfect breakfast, snack, or even dessert.

What are your favourite pancake toppings? What do you like to eat with yoghurt? We love trying tasty new things.

Wishing you a happy, sunshiney weekend, full of niceness and goodness!

That plate makes me laugh. We had a set just like it. Still have a few left. No, you can’t have them. I like them too!

    Sigh, I miss bananas.

I like pancakes topped with pears that have been diced and cooked in a little butter and honey til soft. It makes a caramelly delicious sauce. Perfecto!

Whoa… what is up with that spelling of yogurt? So weird! :) That looks SO yummy! I guess that means you are coming to my house to cook, right? ;)

Haha! I just googled it and apparently you can spell it “yogurt”, “yoghurt” OR “yoghourt” – they are all right! In Australia we mostly use “yoghurt” and I’m assuming in the US you use “yogurt”? I think “yoghourt” is pretty uncommon – maybe they are just trying to be fancy? :)

      • Danielle June 26, 2011 at 9:24 am #

Well I think it’s the fanciest yoghourt I’ve EVER seen! ;)

Ha! You know, I’m beginning to think we are either long lost (non-identical) twins or destined to be best friends! ;)

yummmm! Oh how I miss bananas (just cannot justify them on our student budget). Lately I have been a big fan of cooking up some frozen raspberries with a little sugar into a berry coulis type topping. Or anything with cinnamon sprinkled on top. I always love my greek yoghurt with toasted pecans or slivered almonds on top of the fruit/honey combo. Or if I am feeling rich and decadent, drizzled with real maple syrup instead of honey… sooooo good!

Ah you have me thinking about pancakes – definitely for breakfast tomorrow! Lucky we are on holidays :)

Yes, Bananas are horribly expensive at the moment so they have become a real treat for us too! We really miss them being affordable. Oh and real maple syrup on yoghurt sounds delicious! I will have to try that!

  12. Kelly June 28, 2011 at 12:55 pm #

omg totally agree with the banana thing, how expensive are they! but we still buy them, what’s $4 for a banana when you pay $5 for a coffee? (i heard on the grapevine a large soy from campos is now $4.90!) ahh the things we do. And yes, clearly we are destined for great things together Katie :-P Have you ever been to Single Origin in Surry Hills for coffee? We are Toby’s Estate people personally, but my friend works at S.O. It’s pretty decent, not sure about all the hype being worth it, wondered what your thoughts were if you’d been.

Nope, I haven’t been! And you’re right, $4.90 for a coffee does seem rather insane… I hate when places charge extra for soy!

Hello! I am desperately trying to add one of your buttons on my blog on blogger. I’ve tried the ice lollies and the vintagey looking one but they don’t seem to show up! What am I doing wrong?! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Do you have any tips on taking photos of food? Yours look great, and I’m cooking and baking quite a bit and always want to add pics in posts but they turn out awful. Thank you!

I was shocked to see you have the same dinner plates as me. Mine were given to my parents as a wedding gift in 1980, and then passed onto me when I moved out. I love the retro feel of them!!
